How to Choose and Use Your Carrier Oil

1

Step 1: Match the Oil to Your Skin or Hair. Start with your goal: fast-absorbing grapeseed or jojoba for oily and acne-prone skin, richer almond or argan for dry skin and hair. The filter narrows the range to the oils that suit you.

2

Step 2: Check the Spec and COA. Every listing shows the INCI name, extraction method, and shelf life. Need documentation for a batch? Request a Certificate of Analysis before you buy.

3

Step 3: Pick Your Size. Buy 100ml to test a blend, or order by the liter for production. The same oil scales with you from a first batch to a full product run.

4

Step 4: Blend and Store Right. Use it as a standalone moisturizer, or dilute essential oils at 2.5% to 10% for adults. Keep oils away from light and heat so they stay fresh.

About Carrier Oils

A carrier oil is a fatty oil pressed from a nut, seed, or kernel that you use to dilute concentrated essential oils and carry them safely onto skin and hair. On its own it is also a moisturizer, a massage base, and the oil phase of most serums, balms, and lotions. Cold-pressed means the oil is extracted without heat, so more of its fatty acids and vitamins stay intact.
Cosmetic-grade matters once an oil touches skin. Every carrier oil here is listed with its correct INCI name, extraction method, and suggested use, and is packed in a WHO-GMP and ISO 9001:2015 certified facility with a Certificate of Analysis available on request. For US formulators, that documentation supports your own MoCRA record-keeping. Pair these oils with our essential oils for blends, or reach for cosmetic butters when you need a firmer balm.

Good to Know

Tip 1: Dilute before you apply neat essential oils. Carrier oils bring a safe skin dose; a 2.5% dilution is about 15 drops of essential oil per ounce of carrier.
Tip 2: Store cool and dark. Most carrier oils stay fresh 12 to 24 months; delicate oils like rosehip last longer refrigerated.
Tip 3: Ask for the COA. It confirms the identity and quality of the batch you receive, which matters for indie brands keeping their own records.

Frequently Asked Questions

A carrier oil is a plant oil pressed from nuts, seeds, or kernels that dilutes essential oils and carries them onto the skin. It also works on its own as a moisturizer, massage oil, or the oil phase in serums, lotions, and balms.

For oily or acne-prone skin, lightweight grapeseed and jojoba absorb fast and are non-comedogenic. For dry or mature skin, sweet almond, argan, and rosehip are richer. Combination skin does well with jojoba, which mimics the skin's own sebum.

For adult skin, use a 2.5% to 10% dilution: roughly 15 drops of essential oil per ounce (30ml) of carrier at 2.5%. For children, stay between 0.5% and 1%. Start low and patch test.

Yes. Unlike essential oils, carrier oils are gentle enough to use undiluted as a facial oil, body moisturizer, or massage oil. Patch test first if your skin is sensitive.

Jojoba, grapeseed, and hemp seed oil rank low on the comedogenic scale and suit acne-prone skin. Coconut oil is more likely to clog pores on the face for some people.

Yes. Most last 12 to 24 months stored cool and dark. An oil that smells sharp, bitter, or metallic has gone rancid and should be replaced. A little vitamin E extends shelf life.

A carrier oil is a mild fatty oil used in large amounts; an essential oil is a concentrated aromatic extract used in drops. You dilute essential oils into carrier oils, never the other way around.
